Joe Laufer, Burlington County Historian, gave a talk on little known facts about the influence of William Penn on Pennsylvania and New Jersey history. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
THE QUAKERS OF LITTLE EGG HARBOR - SATURDAY, MAY 15th
Gary Nisley, Clerk of the Little Egg Harbor Friends Meeting spoke on the early Little Egg Harbor Quakers. This is the first in a 3 part series on the impact of the early religions - the Quakers, Methodists, and Presbyterians - on life in Tuckerton and Little Egg Harbor. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
THE METHODIST INFLUENCE ON LITTLE EGG HARBOR - SATURDAY, JUNE 12th
Carol King, the Superintendent of the Tuckerton Methodist Church Sunday School, spoke on the role of the Methodist Church in the Tuckerton and Little Egg Harbor area. She will have many artifacts, journals, and histories from the Tuckerton Methodist Church. This is the second of a 3 part series on the impact of the early religions - the Quakers, Methodists, and Presbyterians - on life in Tuckerton and Little Egg Harbor. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
THE PRESBYTERIAN INFLUENCE ON LITTLE EGG HARBOR - SATURDAY, JULY 17th
John Headley spoke about the history of the Presbyterian church in the United States and, specifically, in the Little Egg Harbor area. Lorraine Athonosios followed up with a brief history and tour of the First Presbyterian Church of Tuckerton. THE LITTLE EGG HARBOR FISH FACTORIES - SATURDAY, AUGUST 14th
Pete Stemmer, Bass River Township Historian, gave a talk and slide show presentation on the five Little Egg Harbor fish factories, with emphasis on the Crab Island Fish Factory. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
CLAMTOWN FLEA MARKET - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th
The Old Clamtown Flea Market took place at Tip Seaman Park next to beautiful Lake Pohatcong in historic Tuckerton with over 100 dealers participating. The weather was wonderful and a good crowd enjoyed the beautiful day. 8 AM to 4 PM at Tip Seaman Park. Rain dates are Sunday, September 12th and Saturday, September 18th.
CROSSROADS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16th
Joe Laufer, Burlington County Historian, spoke about New Jersey as the "Crossroads of the American Revolution" with an emphasis on the influence of William Penn and the Quakers. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
OLD TUCKERTON RECIPES WITH SAM LEIFRIED - SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 13th
Sam Leifried's third book, "A Business Trip Along Routes 4/9 New Gretna to Manahawkin", published by the Tuckerton Historical Society, contains many old Tuckerton recipes. Sam discussed many of them and filled the audience with pleasant memories of some of their grandmother's favorite dishes. The ladies from the Historical Society presented a few dishes made from some of Sam's recipes. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
LITTLE BORO HALL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 11th
Christmas in Tucketon has become a wonderful tradition. The Tuckerton Historical Society held it's private Christmas Party for its members from 4-6 PM in the Little Boro Hall at 220 South Green Street. After 6 PM the doors were opened to the public who were welcomed to share in the Society's Christmas celebration. The public was treated to a variety of old time Christmas exhibits, holiday cookies and punch, and Bill Bolton's renowned Clam Chowder which was be served to the very last drop. A good time was had by all.
