OCTOBER 13, 2012 - THE NEW JERSEY CIVIL WAR SOLDIERJeff Brown gave a talk on the daily life of a New Jersey Civil War soldier through a presentation and explanation of his uniform and how it impacted his war experience. He presented a variety of insights into New Jersey's role in the pre war slavery controversy and the Civil War.

July 14, 2012 – HISTORIC LOCAL POSTCARDS
Jim Estelle, local antiques and postcard dealer, spoke about his 30 plus years of historic postcard collecting. He displayed many albums with postcards from our local area and offered price estimates for those who brought postcards to share. Giffordtown Museum. 2-4 PM.

MAY 12, 2012 – MATHEW B. BRADY: CAMERAMAN OF THE CIVIL WAR
Charles F. McSorley presented a lecture and slide presentation exploring the life and times of celebrated New York City photographer Mathew B. Brady with an emphasis on his role in photographing the Civil War. We were surprised to hear that most of the Brady Civil War photographs were taken by his employees and not Brady himself. The program was funded by the Horizons Speakers Bureau of the New Jersey Council for the Humanities, a state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Giffordtown Museum. 2-4 PM.

APRIL 21, 12012 - TRIUMPH THROUGH ADVERSITYKaren F. Riley, award-winning author of four books, spoke about the importance of faith and perseverance in overcoming adversity. She discussed the adversities faced by a Pinelands community who successfully fought to keep a radon waste dump from their community and gave a personal testimony about overcoming adversity in her personal life. Giffordtown Museum. 2-4 PM.

MARCH 17, 2012 - THE BATTLE OF CHESTNUT NECKRev. Norman Goos, Pres. of the Col. Richard Somers SAR Chapter, gave a talk and slide presentation on the Battle at Chestnut Neck. He presented much original research, including accounts of the battle documented by pension records of veterans who participated in the skirmish. Giffordtown Museum 2-4 PM.
