March 25, 2017 - Tuckerton Historical Society - Ocean County & the Great War. Nicholas Wood, Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission. Combining local history resources with a large cache of recently discovered documents at the National Archives, Nicholas Wood provided an overview of Ocean County’s Participation in the Great War. Topics ranged from Lakewood’s General Hospital #9 and its place as an early center for vocational rehabilitation of wounded soldiers to the Internment of the German’s working at the Tuckerton Wireless Station. Mr. Wood manages the Arts & History regrant programs for the Ocean County Cultural & Heritage Commission and provides technical assistance to area nonprofits. He also serves as the President of the New Jersey Association of Museums.
May 20, 2017 – WWII Jeep. Jeff Brown, Teacher and Historian gave a presentation on the development of the jeep. He brought and discussed an actual 1942 Ford jeep.
June 17, 2017 - Appraisers. Richard Plunkett (Wizard of Odds) & Mathew Pizza (Waretown Stamp & Coin). ($5/item or $10/3 items) performed a number of public and private appraisals. Certified with over 50 years local experience. Proceeds benefited the Tuckerton Historical Society.
August 19, 2017 - The Tuckerton Wireless. John H. Yates talked about the 850 foot tall Tuckerton Wireless Tower (1912-1955) on Hickory Island in the present day Mystic Island section of Little Egg Harbor.
September 9, 2017 - Ye Old Clamtown Antiques Flea Market. TIP SEAMAN PARK from 8:00am-4:00pm. This marked its 43rd year. Appraiser Table. Approx. 70 antique dealers. Selected food vendors.
November 18, 2017 (and repeated December 16,2017)– Tuckerton Railroad. German Georgieff, Naturalist, Wells Mills County Park.
December 9, 2017 - Christmas Party at Little Borough Hall. Christmas in Tuckerton is something to look forward to as part of our holidays. Clam Chowder, punch and cookies were served after 6:00 PM at Little Borough Hall, 220 South Green Street. 609-294-1547. Happy Holidays!
