2011 PAST EVENTS
NOVEMBER 12th: NATIVE AMERICANS IN OUR AREA
Barbara Bolton, Betty Butler, Mary Lou Mathis, and Donald Caselli gave a talk on the Leni Lenape Indians in Southern New Jersey. The audience enjoyed a variety of native American food after the presentation. Giffordtown School House Museum. 2-4 PM.

OCTOBER 22nd: THE CIVIL WAR IN NEW JERSEY
Barbara Bolton discussed the national climate leading up to the Civil War and Pete Stemmer discussed the War in New Jersey and Little Egg Harbor with an emphasis on the men who served and the battles they were engaged in. Giffordtown School House Museum. 2-4 PM.

SEPTEMBER 10th: CLAMTOWN FLEA MARKET
Ye Old Clam Town Flea Market, was held at TIP SEAMAN PARK, from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM. This was its 37th year. The weather cooperated and a good time was had by all. Money raised is used to support Tuckerton Historical Society activities and schalorships.

AUGUST 13th: LITTLE EGG HARBOR'S EARLY SHELLFISH INDUSTRY
Pete Stemmer presented a slide show talk on the history of shellfish in the Little Egg Harbor area from the Native Americans through the Parkertown Oyster War of 1901. Giffordtown School House Museum. 2-4 PM.

JUNE 18th: GENEALOGY AND THE MAYFLOWER
John Yates took us back to the Mayflower through his Yates family line to William Brewster, his Mayflower ancestor; discussed how to prove your family's line and join the Mayflower Society; and gave an interesting history of the "Pilgrims" and their amazing journey. 2-4 PM at the Giffordtown School House Museum.

MAY 14th: AROUND THE WORLD WITH TEA
Betty Butler, who has traveled the world and acquired first hand knowledge of how a variety of cultures approach the art of drinking tea, presented an assortment of teas from around the globe and gave a presentation on the history of tea. The Little Boro Hall provided a quaint, historical backdrop for an English afternoon tea which was served with a variety of teas, tea sandwiches, and various goodies. 1-3 P.M.

APRIL 9th: MONEY AND HOW IT REFLECTS OUR HISTORY
George Peppers, an avid coin collector and former coin dealer, spoke about coins and paper money and how they relate to history from ancient times to the present with emphasis on early American history. Examples of the coins and paper money were presented. The audiance was invited to show their old coins and/or bills to see how they fit into history. 2 to 4 PM at the Giffordtown School Museum.
