NOVEMBER 9, 2013 - OLD NEW JERSEY CRANBERRY SHIPPING LABELSNancy and John Headley gave a talk about the history of the cranberry industry in New Jersey and our area with an emphasis on the colorful shipping labels that were placed on the cranberry boxes and barrels. A hands on display of antique cranberry boxes and picking implements was also presented. Giffordtown Museum, 2-4 PM.

OCTOBER 19, 2013 - THE TUCKERTON WIRELESSPete Stemmer and John Yates discussed the development of wireless radio technology which led to the construction of the 850 foot tall Tuckerton Wireless Tower on Hickory Island in the present day Mystic Island section of Little Egg Harbor. The construction of the tower was also highlighted. The Old Barney Radio Club was present and broadcast to various areas in Germany associated with the old Tuckerton Wireless Tower. AUGUST 17, 2013 - THE QUAKERS OF WEST JERSEY AND LITTLE EGG HARBORLocal historian Pete Stemmer presented a slide show on the Quaker settlement of West Jersey and the Little Egg Harbor area with an emphasis on Quaker customs and how they influenced the everyday life of early Little Egg Harbor residents. JULY 20, 2013 – TUCKERTON & THE CASTOR OIL INDUSTRY
Paul Schopp spoke about the Castor Oil Missionary, John Hallock, and his influence on castor bean farming and Castor Oil production in the Tuckerton and West Creek area in the 19th century. He explained how fortunes were made and lost, highlighting the Pharo and Bartlett families as well as John Hallock. Giffordtown Museum, 2-4 PM.

JUNE 15, 2013 - DOUGHBOYS IN THE GREAT WARJeff Brown presented a talk and slide show on the American Soldier in World War I. His presentation focuses on the men of the American Expeditionary Force during World War One through the use of a slide show presentation and original artifacts. The program brought the soldiers of 1917 – 1918 "back to life" and explained their contributions to the Allied victory in that conflict. Giffordtown Museum, 2-4 PM.

MAY 18, 2013 - INFERNO AT SEAGretchen Coyle and Deborah Whitcraft presented the story of the September 8, 1934 wreck of the luxury liner, the Morro Castle, and its beaching at Asbury Park, NJ. It was told through the eyes of actual participants. Their trip to Cuba to interview survivors was highlighted. Giffordtown Museum, 1-3 PM.

APRIL 6, 2013 - BATTLES OF TRENTON AND PRINCETONRev. Norman Goos, Pres. Col. Richard Somers SAR Chapter spoke on two Revolutionary War battles, Trenton and Princeton, in 1776-77 that were pivotal in our battle for freedom. Washington won these key battles with a piecemeal organization, including about 200 men from Atlantic County and the Tuckerton area. Giffordtown Museum, 2-4 PM.

MARCH 09, 2013 – NEW JERSEY IN THE CIVIL WAR
William Gillette, Ph.D., Professor of History, Rutgers University spoke on the "Role of New Jersey in the Civil War". He emphasized a reconsideration of the state’s wartime role by rebutting the traditional view that New Jersey was a copperhead stronghold, stressing a high level of patriotism and support for the war once it was declared.
